QueryKite is made by ContentPulse LLC. In short: your data stays on your computer, and nothing is sent to us.
This website
QueryKite.com does not use cookies, analytics or trackers. Fonts and images are served from this site. Our web host may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security and operations.
If you email us, for example to be notified when QueryKite launches, we use your address only to reply and to send that notice. We don’t sell or share it.
Where your data lives
Your connections, workspaces, notes and query history (including SQL text and error messages) are stored in a local file on your computer:
- Installed app:
%APPDATA%\QueryKiteon Windows,~/Library/Application Support/QueryKiteon macOS,~/.config/querykiteon Linux. - Portable edition: a
datafolder next to the app.
None of this is sent to ContentPulse LLC.
Passwords and secrets
Database passwords, AI API keys, SSH passwords and SSH key passphrases are never stored in plain text in the settings database.
- Installed app: they’re kept in your operating system’s credential store (Windows Credential Manager, or Secret Service on Linux).
- Portable edition: they’re kept in an encrypted file in its data folder. On Windows, that file is encrypted with Windows DPAPI, tied to your user account.
Ask AI
Ask AI is off until you set up a provider. You choose the endpoint: a local one (Ollama, LM Studio) or a cloud one (OpenAI, OpenRouter, Groq or any OpenAI-compatible service). There is no default cloud provider.
Requests are sent only when you ask, for example when you send a question or test a provider. A request can include:
- your question and the action you picked (such as generate, explain or fix)
- the type of database you’re connected to
- the SQL in the current tab, and the error message when you ask for a fix
- your schema: table and column names, types and keys. This is on by default and can be turned off. It never includes comments or data.
- up to 5 recent successful queries (off by default)
- earlier messages in the same chat
If you enable AI tools, the model can ask to run queries and receives the rows they return (200 rows by default, at most 2,000).
With a local provider such as Ollama, nothing leaves your computer. Anything sent to a cloud provider is covered by that provider’s terms.
Other network use
- The app connects only to the databases you configure and the AI endpoint you choose.
- There is no telemetry, usage tracking, crash reporting or update checking. Your license is checked offline.
- DuckDB may download extensions from DuckDB’s servers when an extension is installed or loaded.
- SSH tunnels use a port on your own computer.
- “Serve tables” listens only on 127.0.0.1 (your own computer), on a random port.
Logs
The app keeps only small local logs in the logs subfolder of its data folder: panic.log for crashes and license.log. It doesn’t deliberately log queries or connection details, and the logs stay on your computer.
